Ms Chinu Kishore

A passionate advocate for Assam and its culture, Chinu Kishore has been at the forefront of promoting Assamese heritage in the UK for over 15 years. Recognised as the "Axomiya face of the UK" by Indian community leader CB Patel, her tireless efforts have brought Assam’s rich traditions and arts to prestigious platforms and international audiences.

As the Cultural Secretary of the United Assam Association UK (UAAUK) since 2007, she has organized flagship events like Assam Day, providing a vibrant stage for Assamese artists. Chinu also founded Luitporia Nasoni, a group dedicated to Assamese folk and classical dance, inspiring women in the UK to embrace their roots and perform at iconic venues such as Trafalgar Square, the British Museum, and the Nehru Centre.

Her work includes showcasing Assam’s classical Sattriya dance and hosting cultural exhibitions at venues like the House of Lords, capturing the beauty of Assamese traditions for diverse audiences. She has also been a vocal advocate for the Assamese language, leading educational initiatives to preserve its classical status for future generations.

Beyond cultural promotion, Chinu actively supports the Assamese diaspora by assisting with visa and passport matters and funds scholarships annually for students and young entrepreneurs from Assam.

Her contributions have earned her numerous awards, including the Biju Phukan Global Assamese Representative Award and the ISKAMA Global Artist Award. Looking ahead, Chinu aims to introduce Assamese theatrical traditions like Gaurav Bhaona to the UK and establish the country's first Namghar (prayer hall), ensuring a lasting spiritual and cultural connection for the Assamese community.
